this is all very very true. Centurylink is just fail. thats all they know to do.
For months, there was problems with internet across 2 towns...and Centurylink just keeps up the "it works on our end" idiotic view point. Well guess what morons, if 70% of the people here are calling you to complain then SOMETHING IS WRONG! - the best part of their fail. while this 'issue' was going on. with my 1.5Mbps connection I would get from 10bps (yes bytes) all the way up to 5Mbps wtf...really? YUP, they fail that much. so with these lines that can only support 1.5Mbps how really how was I getting 5. They want money and nothing else I bet in a few more months they will change it. I remember them actually upgrading the speeds and charging more for current customers for the older speeds!!!

I MUST ADMIT - THIS POST NEEDS AN UPDATE.
==============================

CENTURYLINK Made a strong effort to appear to reach out and fix my problem, however, they never did fix the problem! Each time it would seem to be fixed, it would last at most only days and then begin doing the same thing all over again.

The fact that my parents have since dropped CenturyLink's service entirely proves that they were not satisfied with their service or customer service. They have since gone to a wireless high-speed internet service through a local ISP.

CENTURYLINK - NICE TRY, BUT NO CIGAR. I was even told by one of the higher-ups that my personal web server could have been the problem because their service isn't designed for hosting servers - Wow... really? I left - completely moved out of my parents' home along with my personal web server (which rarely was even on), and it had still continually disconnected. Was even told that the VOIP phones could have been to blame. SERIOUSLY?? Do Centurylink techs not even understand basic TCP/IP?? I'm apparently smarter than the entirety of the Centurylink support guys that I've met to date. None of them seem to get the basic technology of DSL and networking. What do you pay them for??

Personally, I had gone with Qwest fiber internet, but come to find out - all hell has broken loose, and Qwest is now becoming CenturyFail. FAIL OF THE CENTURY.

I switched to Media Player Classic a while back. I've always liked the look of the classic WMP 6.4, and that is what it is like - but a modern player able to play most video and music formats out of the box. MPC - Home Cinema is the most recent version.

Could it be Flash? That's a major component for Youtube. I had problems with Flash video stuttering and pausing and just general very bad playback performance. It wound up being caused by installing the IE version of the plugin as well. So I installed only the Firefox version of the flash plugin and it was fine, no more problems. Oh well, IE doesn't need flash anyways.

this is the same thing with microsoft and new os's. It took ages before all the microsoft products (mice, keyboards, webcams) worked with windows 7. Some not until after launch day. I agree with you, but still, you have to admit, chrome is pretty good

Well this post deserves an update. Joey at CenturyLink listened to my rant and details about the problem and sent out a tech who replaced the box on the outside of the house. I think that might actually fix it. We'll see though. Only time will tell now.
